Samsung Profit Jumps 8x on AI Boom, Memory Chip Crunch
Samsung Electronics announced record first-quarter operating profits, which surged over eightfold and beat analyst forecasts. The primary drivers for this exceptional performance were the escalating global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) servers and a resulting shortage in memory chips. The company's memory division significantly outperformed, capitalizing on high-value AI applications despite supply constraints. Samsung anticipates that strong server memory demand will continue through the second half of the year. This growth is further supported by the company's expansion in High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a key component for AI data centers.
