IEA Chief: Hormuz Strait Threatens Biggest Energy Crisis
The International Energy Agency (IEA) warned that the world is confronting its most significant energy security threat due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. IEA chief Fatih Birol reported a loss of 13 million barrels of oil daily, citing the waterway's double-blockade by Iran and the U.S. The disruption threatens global economic growth, is expected to fuel inflation, and has raised alarms over potential jet fuel shortages in Europe. While member nations have released emergency oil reserves, Birol stressed that the only true resolution is the reopening of the vital strait.
