According to police reports, the shooter, identified as 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, opened fire across three residences in Shreveport. The victims included:

Eight children: Three boys and five girls, aged between 3 and 11.
Other victims: Elkins also shot his wife, Shaneiqua Pugh, and another woman, Christina Snow, who was the mother of three of the deceased children.

Aftermath and Police Response

The situation escalated when Elkins was involved in a vehiclejacking and subsequently led law enforcement on a chase. Officers ultimately shot and killed Elkins.

Witnesses reported that a third woman, who was the wife's sister, and a 12-year-old girl attempted to escape by jumping from a roof.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux commented on the tragedy, stating, “It rattles the entire city. It affects us all.”
