Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10 will feature a significantly larger screen and a thinner overall design compared to previous generations.
Expected Design and Screen Size Upgrades
According to Kuo, the next generation of Apple Watch models will see notable dimensional increases. The screen sizes are projected to expand across the two main models:
- Smaller Model: Expected to increase from 41 millimeters to 44 millimeters.
- Larger Model: Expected to increase from 45 millimeters to 49 millimeters.
Apple Watch Ultra and Release Timeline
The Apple Watch Ultra model is expected to maintain specifications that are "roughly the same." However, Kuo noted that a darker case option may be introduced, contingent upon positive production yield results.
The Series 10 is anticipated to launch in September, coinciding with Apple's typical release cycle for new wearables and iPhone models.
Integration of 3D Printing Technology
A major technological shift predicted for the device is the integration of components manufactured using 3D printing technology, starting in the second half of the year. While Apple has not yet mass-produced devices using this method, the company tested 3D printing for the Series 9 in 2023, which Kuo stated "significantly improved" production efficiency.
- Supplier: Bright Laser Technologies is expected to supply these 3D-printed watch components.
- Industry Impact: Kuo anticipates that the demand for parts from this China-based 3D-printing company will grow significantly due to the cost advantages offered by the technology. The technology may also be applied to the production of Apple Watch cases.
