Egypt Launches University Admissions for 2024-2025, Cairo University Announces Transfer Process

The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has officially launched the first phase of university admissions for the 2024-2025 academic year, with the electronic registration system opening from August 12 to August 16, 2024. The ministry has established minimum admission requirements for various faculties, with the scientific stream requiring at least 371 points (90.48%), accommodating 23,850 students, the engineering stream needing a minimum of 357 points (87.07%) for 15,355 students, and the literary stream requiring at least 280 points (68.29%) for 73,995 students.To facilitate the registration process, the ministry has set up approximately 100 computer labs across 27 public universities nationwide. These labs will be open from 9 am to 3 pm to assist students with their applications, while the electronic coordination website (https://tansik.digital.gov.eg) will be accessible 24/7 for students to register their preferences.In a related development, Cairo University has announced its transfer application process for the new academic year 2024/2025, set to begin on September 1st. The application period will last for two weeks for all types of transfers, with an additional two weeks for special programs. Students wishing to transfer to higher colleges must meet specific grade requirements, with medical colleges requiring an ‘excellent’ overall grade, practical colleges needing a ‘very good’ grade, and theoretical colleges requiring a ‘good’ grade.Dr. Mohamed Sameh Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, emphasized that transfers will be made in accordance with quotas set by college councils and the university council, prioritizing students with the highest grades and those residing within the university’s geographical area. The university also reaffirmed its commitment to the rules and regulations set by the university council regarding transfers, including provisions for students with disabilities and special needs.
