Disney Unveils $60 Billion Investment Plan for Theme Parks and Digital Experiences at D23 Event

Disney has unveiled an ambitious slate of new projects for its theme parks, cruise ships, and digital experiences at the D23 fan event, committing to a $60 billion investment over the next decade. This significant expansion of Disney’s parks and experiences division aims to bring beloved stories and characters to life in innovative ways across various platforms.Among the major announcements are several new themed lands and attractions. A villains-themed land is coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, featuring shopping, dining, and two major new attractions. Disney California Adventure will see the addition of an ‘Avatar’-inspired area focused on ‘The Way of Water’, promising a ‘dynamic, intense and emotional experience on a grand scale’. Other new developments include a ‘Monsters, Inc.’ land at Hollywood Studios, ‘Encanto’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ attractions at Animal Kingdom, and a doubling in size of the Avengers Campus with two new attractions: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.Disney Cruise Line is also expanding, with plans to add four new ships to its fleet between 2027 and 2031. Additionally, the company is venturing further into the digital realm through a partnership with Epic Games. This collaboration will bring Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars characters into Fortnite and allow fans to engage with Disney stories in a connected digital universe.Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, stating, ‘We had to wait for innovation to catch up with our dreams.
