Ukraine Strikes Russian Logistics Center as US Plans to Restrict F-16 Weapon Use

In a significant escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian forces successfully struck a Russian logistics center in the Kursk region on July 30, 2024. The attack, carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine in cooperation with other components of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, targeted ‘Logistic Center #43’ in the village of Vozh, resulting in a fire at the enemy’s facility. This strike represents a notable penetration into Russian territory and demonstrates Ukraine’s growing capability to hit strategic targets behind enemy lines.Meanwhile, the United States has announced plans to restrict Ukraine’s use of weapons provided to it, including those equipped on F-16 fighter jets. According to unnamed American officials, Ukraine will only be allowed to use these weapons on Russian territory in response to attacks from that side of the border. This decision comes as F-16s are expected to face significant challenges in Ukraine due to constant Russian attacks on airbases and a lack of qualified pilots. On the ground, Russian forces claim to have taken control of the settlement of Pivdenne in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine. This advance puts Russian forces closer to the Ukrainian stronghold of Toretsk, a key coal mining town. Russian military sources also report successes in destroying Ukrainian military equipment, including claims of destroying 18 tanks (two American Abrams and one German Leopard) and five Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. Both sides continue to employ advanced weaponry and tactics. Russian forces reportedly used FAB-3000 bombs to strike Ukrainian military positions, with Colonel Markus Raisner of the Austrian Armed Forces stating that these 3000 kg bombs can ‘completely destroy’ Ukrainian military positions. Ukrainian forces, for their part, are increasingly using drones for both offensive and defensive operations.
