Turkey Braces for Weather Shift: Heavy Rain and Cooling Temperatures

The Meteorology General Directorate has issued a yellow-coded warning for 13 provinces, signaling a significant shift in weather conditions across Turkey. Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir are among the cities on alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms. The north and east of Marmara and the Black Sea region are expected to bear the brunt of the downpour, with local thunderstorms and heavy rain showers predicted to start in the evening and subside by the next day. Meanwhile, the Aegean region, Marmara’s southern part, the Lake Region, and Eskişehir are bracing for strong and short-lived storms, with wind speeds reaching up to 80 km/h and a sudden temperature drop of 8-10 degrees in some northern regions after noon, causing temperatures to drop by 8-10 degrees. The southern regions are expected to remain hot throughout the Bayram holiday, while the rest of the country will see a drop in temperatures by 4-6 degrees Celsius by the end of the week, approaching seasonal norms. The Meteorology General Directorate advises citizens to be cautious and take necessary precautions against potential disruptions, especially in areas prone to flooding.
