Turkey’s President Erdoğan Announces Justice Reforms and Economic Support Measures

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has unveiled a series of measures aimed at reinforcing Turkey’s justice system, supporting families, and bolstering the economy. Erdoğan announced the creation of 5 new justice centers and an increase in the number of judges and prosecutors to enhance the country’s legal infrastructure. He addressed the nation’s declining birth rate, underscoring the importance of family and women’s empowerment and reiterated the government’s resolve to not be swayed by ‘floods of complaints’ as it serves all 85 million citizens of Turkey including the working class, farmers, and women and those affected by recent earthquakes with financial support and urban transformation initiatives and psychological and social support to 1.7 million people.In addition to these reforms, Erdoğan declared that a 9-day holiday for public employees will start from June 16th, providing a break for the workforce and a boost to domestic tourism. Moreover, retirees are set to receive their Ramadan and Eid al-Adha bonuses between June 10-14, a clear nod to the administration’s support for the elderly population. The government has also pledged to increase the minimum wage by 49% from January 1st, 2024, a significant step towards addressing income inequality and improving living standards for low-income workers. The President emphasized that these initiatives reflect the government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of the people and fostering a strong and prosperous Turkey.
